Folic acid
Folic acid, also known as vitamin B9, helps the body make healthy red blood cells. It is also important for brain function and nerve health. Deficiency in this vital vitamin leads to anaemia, nerve and brain damage. Folic acid helps the baby's brain, skull and spinal cord develop properly in pregnancy, to avoid development problems (called neural tube defects) such as spina bifida. It's therefore recommended for any future mum to take folic acid before getting pregnant until 12 weeks into the pregnancy to helps the baby brain develop normally.
Ingredients
Folic acid 10 mg IM.
Will I get better?
If your symptoms are due only to folic acid deficiency, there is a high chance of improvement. However, other underlying deficiencies or undiagnosed illnesses may be present that have not been tested for. Our role is to ensure the shot is safe for you, but a consultation helps provide a more complete assessment of your needs. If you choose to proceed without one, the outcome may vary depending on other factors.
