September 2012: Found an engorged tick embedded in the abdomen.
-
October–November 2012: Developed aching legs; GP general blood tests were negative. GP attributed symptoms to prior parathyroid gland removal.
-
January 2013: Noticed abnormal gait after walking half a mile.
-
February 2013: Gait worsened; referred to a neurologist.
-
March 2013: Neurologist found nothing serious but ordered an MRI. A friend suggested Lyme disease; neurologist dismissed it. MRI scan was normal. Developed sharp pains in hands and feet.
-
June 2013: Neurologist letter to GP attributed symptoms to stress; MRI was normal.
-
August 2013: A different GP took history of the tick bite and ordered tests. Results showed positive IgM for Borrelia. NHS infectious disease doctor consulted by GP but dismissed Lyme diagnosis. The patient opted for private testing; Western Blot which again positive for Lyme disease.
-
October 2013: Traveled to Germany for treatment. Borrelia test positive. IV Ceftriaxone (antibiotic) started; gait improved in the third week. Switched to oral Tinidazole and Minocycline for 4 months.
-
Early 2014: Symptoms worsened after stopping antibiotics; After six weeks, gait deteriorated. Returned to Germany for oral antibiotics, but no improvement. IM Penicillin (twice weekly) led to gait improvement after three weeks. Four months later, gait worsened again.

-
2018–2019: Returned to Cyprus for more ozone therapy. Walking remained stable for 4 years.
-
2023–2024: Continues to experience fluctuating symptoms but finally had a major deterioration in gait over the six weeks prior to coming to Leicester Ozone Clinic.

Therapy received from Leicester Ozone Clinic and therapeutic response:
-
Ozone therapy using ozonated saline commenced on 4 Jan 2024 twice a week for two weeks (4 to 18 January inclusive), receiving a total of 5 ozone infusions with increasing doses before switching to once a week. With the third dose of ozone (on the 11th of January 2024), she was also given a one-off dose of B1 vitamin in the form of TTDF, 50 mg i.v to speed up nerve recovery.
-
After 3 dose of ozone there was a dramatic improvement of her walking. Please see the videos taken before therapy and after 3 doses of ozone.

-
From the 5th dose of ozone she continued on weekly ozone (18 January to 22 February 2024) for a total of 4 sessions then she started to receive therapies every 3 weeks for a further 9 sessions. When she switched to 3 weekly therapy and having achieved the desired outcome with her walking, we added vitamin c (50 grams i.v) in a hope to suppress the Lyme infection using the antimicrobial effect of vitamin c.
-
In the beginning of October 2024, we started monthly maintenance of ozone and vitamin c. This has continued to date with no recurrence of her leg weakness or gait abnormality.
-
She continued to experience minor sensory symptoms such has stabbing pains in legs and some tingling. These may represent neuropathic pain. However the motor function has completely resolved.

Progress report:
-
April 1st, 2025: She expressed a desire to begin Alpha Thymosin therapy alongside 50 grams of intravenous Vitamin C to further support her immune system in managing the root cause of her illness i.e Lyme disease. Due to financial constraints—and given the noticeable improvement in her gait from ozone therapy—she is considering decreasing ozone treatment to once every 2 months and focus on monthly Vitamin C and once a week Alpha Thymosin 1.6 mg starting on 01/04/2025.
